My computer was recently infected with/by spyware. I ran the "spy bot" system by IT guy put on here and I think I solved the problem. The only thing is, my desk top still has the red background that says my computer is infected by spyware, I guess this is something the spyware put on. Anyone know how I get rid of this and go back to my regular background? I've tried going to control panel and display, but anything I try to put on will not over ride the current faulty background.
Thanks!
Thought I solved the problem but my homepage keeps changing and the web page keeps jumping to "Antispyspider" web page. Also, I keep getting a Security Manger warning that my PC is infected with malware, but when I click on it, it again takes me to the antispyspider page.
My desktop displace is still bright red and it is what seems to be a web page link. I've ran spybot as well as 2 other virus/spyware programs. How can I get rid of the annoying background? Like I said before, it over rides any other background I try to put up. Also, I went to display like someone said, but it's not showing any web pages set to be my background.

Sounds like the spyware used a webpage for your background rather than an image. With Windows XP do this:
Right Click Desktop
Select Properties
Click 'Background' Tab
Click Customize Desktop Button
Click 'Web' Tab
Untick any Web Pages that are listed there
Click OK, then Apply.

Run "windows repair" if you cant clean it up properly with a GOOD antivirus. Try NOD32 from eset.com first. It's free for 30 days.

Click start>click run type in msconfig and then press enter. Goto the start up tab and uncheck everything except your anti virus.click ok and reboot. When you come back to the desktop check the box 'do nto show this message again" and click ok .
1. Download and run firefox to protect your from future spyware attacks and pop ups which are coming in through internet explorer (Trojan downloaders, win32 ).Browser attacks aren't easy to spot because they piggyback on legitimate traffic that doesn't exhibit many obvious warning signs
