I am using Windows XP, when I run the task manager it shows two internet explorers working in the "Processes" section and some other programs like okaybuild.exe and mediaw~1.exe.
Sometimes, an Internet explorer window appears with a website www.888.com (a gambling website).
Whenever I try to close these programs manually by using task manger they appear again and again.
Is my PC infected with some kind of spyware or adware, can anyone suggest some good free softwares (which I can download) which can get rid of them ??

You can try Ad Aware, Spy bot - search and destroy and Spy ware Doctor for some good spy ware removers. AVG Anti virus and McAfee virus scan are also supposed to help a lot to remove virus. check out http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-sAFtLsc8erIoh.ENhksr2KyG for more details.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
download firef ox for free, Just have a try:

Definitely sounds like spyware to me.
You need to run a spyware scan. First make sure that you have anti-virus & firewall software on your PC and that it is up to date.
I like to use Antivir for antivirus and Comodo for firewall. Both are free.
Next download a spyware scanner and run a scan. Most are free to download.
Like others mentioned, make sure to run the scan in Windows safe mode!
Best of luck!
