I am experiencing spyware popups continually, very annoying! They are the ones telling me to click "run" or "ok" to continue with download, I know it is rogue. What can I do to make it stop? I have Verizon and have called tech support. At one time I also had AVG software on my system in addition to Verizon's security suite. Verizon told me I could not run both anti-virus/anti-spyware software programs on my system and must delete one. Is that true?

Your machine is infected. Pop-ups are mostly caused by adware, spyware, and other malicious and unwanted software and using pop-up blocker won't help an infected PC. No single anti-spyware application is perfect so I recommend using at least 2 different programs. Spybot Search & Destroy is one of the best. I also recommend SUPERAntiSpyware. Other free anti-spyware programs would be Adaware, AVG Anti-spyware (formally Ewido), A-squared, Spyware Terminator and SpywareBlaster.
Running these programs in Safe Mode (tap F8 as the computer boots up and choose to boot to safe mode) can be more effective.
If you do not have an updated anti-virus program always running, you need to get one. Install only one, but you can get AVG, Avast! or AntiVir for free.
I strongly recommend using FireFox, it's a far better and safer alternative to Internet Explorer. If you add-on McAfee SiteAdvisor, it will warn you of potentially harmful sites. I also recommend CCleaner which is a free system optimization and privacy tool.

Typically, you do not want to have two antivirus programs running at the same time. They fight each other.
I recommend http://www.avast.com for free antivirus.
Also use http://www.lavasoftusa.com for free Adaware.
And get http://www.microsoft.com Windows Defender.
All these are free.
The Adaware and Windows Defender will work together fine. But remove the AVG before installing Avast.

That's not true–you just can't have 2 anti-virus programs at the same time. Change your home page to Yahoo! Yahoo has a popup blocker in it's toolbar at the top. Go to Yahoo, look at the top left in blue letters it says–Get Yahoo! toolbar with anti-spy. Click that and follow directions.

You cannot run two anti-virus programs that have a real-time resident protection such as AVG and VSS, without causing a conflict. Using a separate on-demand only anti-spyware is OK and is in fact recommended for a "second opinion". As is the use of specialized malware removal tools.
All of these are specialized removal tools for the type of fake rogue advertising (Zlob/Smitfraud infections.), that you are having.
SmitfraudFix:

RogueFix:

RogueRemover:

After having success with one of the above, to clean-up any remaining infection traces, I suggest scan for trojans, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus. Press "Scan online" on the right.

Good luck.
