I was just watching videos on the web, not downloading anything… when I clicked out of my internet browser (firefox) a blue screen appears saying "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer." I already had one (ZoneAlarm Security Suite) so I ran that. I had three spyware infections, so I deleted them. The wallpaper was still there. I ran the program again, and it said I didn't have any. I checked the updates and updated it just to be sure. I ran it again. It said I didn't have any viruses or spyware or anything, but I still have the wallpaper. I restarted my laptop… but it was still there… and I re-ran the program… but it still said I didn't have any viruses or spyware… and I can't change the wallpaper… Now I am confused… Help, please?

Zonealarm is only for spyware protection. So if I were you I'd install AVG free and then I would also get spybot. Those two should be able to resolve the issue.
You should have one virus protection program on you computer, along with 2-3 spyware protection programs.
If you need help, let me know. I have removed that type of infection a couple of times.

I suggest using SuperAntiSpyware or possibly Avira to get rid of it.I have SuperAntiSpyware, but I haven't ever used Avira. However,I have some great feedback about Avira.

MESSENGER SPAM
XP Home:
this set up is for Internet Explorer alone
do you get pop ups claiming that your computer is at risk?
those are called "Messenger Spam" !
to stop messenger spam:
open start page
open administrative tools
open services
these services are in alphabetical order
you need to close two:
a] Alerter
b] Messenger
NOT related to MSN messenger or any other instant messenger
right click each service
click properties
from drop down menu,select disable
another method to deal with those that get through is to copy the pop up address at the top of the pop up or pop under [ starts up AFTER you close a window ]
open internet options [ start–control panel–internet options ]
open content tab
open settings
open enable
enter address
click never
close
open Advanced tab
check to see if pop up blocker is checked
close
