somehow I got this virus which AVG…trendmicro….ad-aware…Spybot seems to not find. Hijack this shows the problems but cannot delete/fix any of the entries.

Security task manager shows a hidden process and rundll32.exe keeps running.

anyone know how to get rid of it without reformatting my HDD and reinstalling XP?

Try these two options

Either go to pc world and get free assistant

or try ending the process and then restarting your computer, it worked for me…
