if you steal something at school, but return it before questioned about it how much trouble can you get in? also how long do video cameras at school run, before they begin to “tape over footage”?
P.S. i know i did something wrong, but if i return it, how much toruble can i get it?
…also, if the teacher said she would check the camera’s on wednesday (and its now saturday) how soon will they know?
i know im gonna return it, but do you think the teacher already checked the camera? also the camera was in a “Black Dome” on the ceiling, so how long would it take to review the footage?
also, how quickly can administration review the footage. the teacher said she would review the footage 3 days ago, and i still haven’t heard anything.

the best thing for you to do is, take what ever you took and give back to the school. just admit you messed up and take the punishment.
don’t be so dumb next time. if anyone else was involved tell them what you’re going to do. give them a chance to confess too. returning the item shows remorse and that can have a bearing on your punishment.

Theft is taking something with intent to deprive…since you took the item and still have it, you are obviously guilty of theft… when you give it back, you will still be guilty of theft, because you did take it…however, i work in a school, and from my experience, as long as the item wasnt damaged, rarely are criminal charges pressed.. you may still face school discipline, but possibly not criminal discipline..if they do press the criminal issue, the punishment will most likely be dependent upon the value of the object taken..(unless the laws are different in your state)..
as far as the camera system, most likely its the kind of recording that is directly accessible from any computer that is hooked to the system - at least mine is like that… i never go to the actual cameras, i just pull up the video from that timeframe/camera in question…
as far as why you havent heard anything, they are most likely just busy… i know with things like theft, where even if we are pressing charges i am going to have to take the evidence, write it up and make a warrant before the suspect can be arrested, that i am in no rush to get it done… even if you no longer have the object, because you gave it to someone else, you are still liable for the theft (actually had this happen yesterday.. kid stole something, i saw it on video, brought kid in cuz i had time and he said he’d given it to someone else.. it was a pretty small, minor item, and i told him he had 5 minutes to get that item back or i would be getting a warrant for him.. got it back in under 5!)
but other times i am more busy and i get around to it after the fights and drug busts, etc…
give it back, apologize and take your punishment and dont do it again…
