After installing an update for Vista my computer restarted and went straight into startup repair. Startup repair will run and then tell me it can't fix the problem. I ran a disk check in command prompt and found corrupt files. In order to repair the files I need to restart. My computer can't restart though. Also, trying to run the computer in safe mode just ends up at Startup Repair.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried to re-install vista? That normally helps fix theoretically anything, AND you will not lose old files, Windows will tell you that your old installation will be named windows.old and you can get your music, videos, pics from that old installation, Try to install vista again, Pop in your Recovery CD (If you have one), And if you don't have a cd to re-install vista,Google how to re-install vista without a CD
