If you had to choose a security suite for antivirus/antispyware as well as detecting rootkits, trojans, botnets, malware in downloaded files and other malicious malware but you could only choose between Symantec Endpoint Protection (version 11) or Microsoft Security Essentials; which one would you choose and why?

Take other softwares into consideration, not just Symantec Endpoint Protection or Microsoft Security Essentials.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a new free anti-virus program. When Microsoft was charging for anti-virus protection. They weren’t very good. Now I see no reason to think that their free program will be that good. Plus it’s not a security suite, it’s a anti-virus program. The few tests I’ve seen of the beta, it did not do that good of a job. It’s really no contest at this point. Go with Symantec. But why you are using Endpoint protection for a home computer is another thing I don’t get. I’m not sure how the protection is with something that is made to be set up with a IT guy. A program that is made not to protect a home user but a Business computer in a office.
