If your hard drive crashes it will be hard to boot from it (i do not use Norton’s) but i will bet that it wants to save to another boot device( CD DVD or a thumb drive) and put in a safe place like a safe. I back up my system state to a 8 gig thumb drive every Sunday at 1:00
