I’m trying to install AVG Free 8.0 on an old XP laptop. It always gives me a failure message whenever its done installing (Error 0×80070431) and it says that I have an existing AV/AS on my computer. The computer was infected with WinAntivirusPro 2009 and I just got it removed.
I did have Norton AV 2008 on there, and after I removed Norton, I had a trial version of AVG 8.0. I ran the AVG removal tool and it fails every time. The Norton Removal Tool says that it cannot proceed until WinFax Pro is removed. The problem is, I’ve never had WinFax Pro on this computer. Its not under anything in the C:\ Drive (system search confirms this). But the tool still won’t remove.
Whats wrong?

install and run Revo uninstaller and choose complete to remove what you want. they disappear for good.
now for your problem with winfax pro, i know were it is, so you install.
MVregclean run it and don’t be afraid of remove everything it says ,its a reliable program, and that’s it. but lately there is a lot of complains about AVG8 (its mine too) give us fake positive and don’t update to many often.
