Hi, I want to set my new Toshiba laptop’s monitor to turn itself off after the computer has been idle for a certain time period.
I went to Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings. There, under “Turn Off the Display” I set it to ten minutes. But the monitor does not turn off after the given time period.
I also tried the OOTB Toshiba utilities (”Toshiba Assist”) but I did not find a comparable setting there.
I want to make sure the screen turns off to preserve its longevity. Is there some Toshiba tool that is overriding the Vista setting? Or am I going about this completely wrong?
TIA!
Thanks, bongskilog. The screen I tried is the same one you referred to - I just got to it a different way.

go to power options (batter icon at the lower right of your monitor/display).
control/power options/edit plan settings.
you may opt adjust minutes of turnoff display, sleep, and its brightness as well. Pls note that there are two different settings on battery and plugged in..
hope this helps..
I got a toshiba with vista OS.
side note: xp better than vista. (although i dont have prob with virus since i purchased is last july 2007.)
