Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 Help! ?

Ok my Trend Micro AntiVirus will slow my computer when I run it, and everytime I run it, it stays at 0%, which means how far it is in the scan. It was scanning for 3 hours and stayed at 0%. I cannot close it and I cannot open or turn off computer when it starts to run. I have tried to update it but I got the highest update for it avalible. So please help me out here, I don’t want my computer to get screwed up, I have only had it for 1 year.
