I have a new laptop, and Trend Micro updates when I first turn it on (because I only use the computer maybe twice a week, and it is set to auto update DAILY, so of course it starts right away). Anyway, something froze my computer when I first turned it on, and I had to turn it off manually like 4 times before I finally turned it on again and Trend Micro popped up saying that it 'may have caused unexpected shutdowns' and that it 'reverted back to a previous version.' What's up with that? I've only had the computer and the antivirus for a month now. Was there a faulty update that causes Vista to crash or something???
Thanks, I'll pick a best answer TODAY!
Is Trend Micro good? I think that I have the middle version, not the bottom of the line, but not that super protection one. It was $50. Best Buy suggested it, but I don't know if I trust them…. I think they just want my money. LOL
Well when I bought the laptop, I wanted to get it "optimized" for like $100 or whatever, and they were like 'would you like us to do an antivirus too?' so I said yes. Then they asked me which one I wanted, and I said whichever one is the best one. They said Trend Micro was good because it didn't take up a lot of space and was quick, so I just got that one. I don't go on any suspicious sites though, I don't open random emails, etc. so maybe I don't need as much protection as someone doing some heavy-duty internet surfing???
Thank you so much… I REALLY appreciate your help!!

It could be Vista trying to work with Trend. I would try and keep Trend Micro for a little bit longer to see if any future problems occur.
EDIT: Best Buy suggested Trend Micro to my sister too along with Webroot Spysweeper. I think Trend is not that good, it's okay. I have Avira AntiVir Personal Free Edition and it doesn't give me any problems. Had it since August of 2008. You get like a 6 month free trial. It has a 99.7% detection rate, the best of all antiviruses. I recommend getting rid of Trend, but if you feel like that's putting your money to waster, then keep Trend. I recommend Avira.

EDIT 2: Yes, Best Buy wants EVERYONE's money. Did you ask them: "Is this Antivirus good" and did you have Trend in your hand? Then, they would say yes. Or did they just recommend it to you?
EDIT 3: An Antivirus doesn't mean it's good just because it doesn't take up a lot of space. Best Buy is wrong. Avira is more easier to use, and it has a better chance of not crashing your PC like Trend. I recommend getting Avira.
