trend micro pop up because i might get new spyware?

September 24th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Since yesterday, I’ve been getting this pop up a few seconds after I turn on my computer. It says, “This anti-spyware product is no longer supported by Trend Micro. Your PC maybe exposed to new spyware. You have a special chance to get Trend Micro AntiVirus and AntiSpyware for 50% Off”
My computer seems to be running fine. It’s not like it is slow, or has many pop ups. I don’t think I’ve even heard of trend micro before i saw this ad. what to do?

I have the same problem and the only thing I find is people saying to go to the programs files and deleting the tms folder and or uninstalling the trend from add/remove programs. Unfortunately I don’t have trend and I never had it so it doesn’t show up in my folder. I hope knows how to prevent this popup.

There is apparently a virus that causes this. I’m still searching for a solution. If you don’t and haven’t used Trend Micro products, you may have the virus.

I just found that “Spy Subtract” is a Trend Micro Product. It wasn’t listed as such anywhere in the folders or Add/Remove Programs, so I had missed it. If you’re using that, remove it.
