i just installed trend-micro internet security pro and i registered it and everything, and ive ran the scan and it cleaned out all the trojans it found, however after i ran the scan i figured i should update it. but when i click the update button it tries to connect to download the update but before the download begins a message pops up saying:
an error prevented your security software from contacting trend-micro.
make sure your internet connection works, and check your proxy settings. If scheduled maintenance has interrupted the update system, please wait one hour before trying again.
now obviously my computer IS connected to the internet, because im on yahoo answers. and as far as im aware nothing happened to interrupt it, can anyone help me out please? how can i get it to let the update download begin? any help is GREATLY appreciated, thanks!
thanks, thats the first response ive gotten for this question that actually answered it rather than bash on me for using trend and recommending some stupid freeware AV. ill give these options a try n see how it works.

1) Trend micro and other antivirus providers that have the name "Internet Security" have firewalls. Disable the Trend Micro firewall and the Windows Firewall (just to make sure). Then try updating again.
2) Other malicious software is messing your computer up. Run spybot or malwarebytes and see if that helps. Google them if you can't find them.
3) Their update server might be down for a number of reasons.
