I have an HP desktop computer and it is only a year old. We have Trend Micro spyware AND antivirus. Earlier, my mom opened a pop up and the computer went kinda nuts. We got a security warning about a Trojan Horse Program that was an extremely high level risk. We called Trend Micro and they emailed us specific instructions on how to kill it. We thought we got rid of it afterwards, but now, we were nowhere near the computer and it had no windows open, and something for Windows XP antivirus popped up like three consecutive times. Then random sound clips were coming from nowhere and we have never heard before. Is this due to the Trojan Horse Program? How can we take care of this problem if system recovery is a last resort. Whoever helps me the most can put me in their contacts and will automatically get best points for the next answer. But you gotta remind me.

It is a fake. It is malware itself. It is trying to scam you:
"XP Antivirus 2008 is a rogue antivirus utility that uses false positives to lure the user into buying the product."

Your computer is badly infected. Probably a smitfraud infection.
The removal tool called RogueRemover Free specialises in this sort of malware
http://www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover.php
Use the free version. There is absolutely no reason to use the paid, "Pro" version when you want to remove only.
After running RogueRemover, to clean-up any remaining infection traces, scan for trojans,
and spyware etc and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus. Press "Scan your computer now online and clean it for free!" on the left.

Good luck.

XPAntiVirus is the suspect anti-spyware that includes a set of features which do not work, and generates false positives to trick users, forcing them to buy commercial version of this software. XPAntiVirus may be dangerous for your computer, causing system errors and slowdowns. This misleading program can be installed manually or through browser security holes (using trojan horses or worms, installed on your computer). It also hijacked the homepage to obscure websites, sometimes with adult content. Remember that XPAntiVirus is unable to remove spyware and viruses!
