Trojan.Gen is there a trojan scanner and remover you can trust for free?or what is the best one overall?

My webroot spysweeper found trojan.gen and quarantined it.Is there a good Trojan search and removal tool to be sure I’m safe?I have McAfee security suite which will not complete a virus scan.I get a message that it needs to close because it could not keep up with the progress.So my question is a two parter.Is there a good free trojan scanner and remover or what is the best anti virus that also protects you from Trojans and malware and how do I uninstall the total McAfee security suite,privacy service and firewall?I don’t remember why but my firewall is not the latest Mcafee edition and I must uninstall the whole thing to reinstall it with the new 9.0 firewall.Thanks I have thought about going webroot,avg and comando firewall instead.
