Heres the deal, I tryed to download a program from Limewire (bad idea..) without having an anti-virus program installed on my computer. After the download was complete all my icons in the task bar became replaced with the arrow that you click to slide out the taskbar. I also cannot open Task Manager (Ctrl+alt+del) So I Downloaded AVG Free and it found the infected files. It says that it has moved them to the virus vault but the problems with the task bar and task manager continue, if someone knows how to fix this i would be greatful

You probably will have to go to system tools and pick system restore. Restore the system to the day before you downloaded the program and you should be fine. You will only miss any updates or system setting made after that date.

sounds like you may still have a virus. Try another scanner to pick up anything that AVG didn't pick up. Google pack is good, check out this site for info - http://delete-virus.com

Ok, do you remember the date you downloaded the program from Limewire?
Ok, then go to
Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
System Restore
Then go to the calendar thingy, and choose a point before you downloaded the program.
This will restore your computer to the way it was on that date (don't worry, you'll still have all ur documents since then etc. but ur downloaded files and installed programs since then will be gone, and hopefully so will your viruses)
Then reinstall AVG Free, scan.
I would also recommend getting Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy.
Hope this helps!

Hello,
It sounds like you are infected with a trojan. So I think you are having a hard time because trojan's are not exactly viruses. So most anti-virus programs will not remove them, because they do not see them as viruses.
A couple of month's back I suffered a nasty trojan infection. It completely screwed my computer up. Every time I would get on the internet I would get blasted with pop-up after pop-up.
It got so bad, I thought I would have to get a new computer. So out of frustration I called Geek Squad. They wanted $200 to Look at my computer, and that didn't include fixing it. No Way!
It wasn't until I was searching google for a trojan remover that I came across the solution to my problem.
I found a website that gave honest reviews of the best spyware removal programs. So I checked into it, and the best product, AdwareAlert is also capable of removing Trojans.
I quickly downloaded AdwareAlert and scanned my computer.
It found all the trojan worms, and spyware infections that none of my other programs could find and delete.
I have been running AdwareAlert now for the last couple of months, and it has been doing an awesome job at keeping my computer spyware free.
I never have pop-ups anymore, and my computer is running like a dream.
You can Visit the website I found in google below.
