trying to uninstall anti virus software please help?

ive been using avg 8 free software but have just bought kaspersky and am trying to install it. when reading the disc for installation it says avg 8 is still there, even though i removed it via add or remove programs. could traces of avg be hiding some other place that kaspersky is picking up????

      You need to restart your computer for all of the files from avg8 to be removed.
