I want to uninstall Norton and replace it with another protection program. The problem is I cannot find Norton in my Control Panel, only the live update appears. Can anyone help please, bearing in mind I am somewhat of a novice. Thank you…

You can use the Norton Removal Tool which is located here:

symantetc is another hog software
if its being stbborn then remove it the stupid way,
go to cnet.com and download glary utilities
open glarty utilities and stop the processes ran by norton also you can disable it from starting with windows, delete all its files from program files, delete all shortcuts then clean and repair your registry with glary utilities, rebbot your pc and run registry cleanig with glary utilities, you can then install whatever you want
my rule is
if its stubborn kick it out

Norton should appear in Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel), not in the Control Panel itself. Try that first, then the Removal Tool, if needed. Download, but don’t install, your chosen replacement first. Disconnect from the net, turn Norton off (everything Norton), uninstall (won’t work if Norton still switched on). Install replacement.
