I am trying to uninstall Norton Antivirus. I don't even know how it got on my computer — probably installed on there from the person I bought this laptop from.
I've tried to .exe uninstaller but it just flickers and then nothing happens.
I've tried to uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs menu from Control Panel, but it just flickers and then goes back to the Add/Remove Programs screen.
However, Norton Antivirus' other functions seems to be working, such as the auto-update, and the God-forsaken reminder for me to purchase a non-trial version every 15 minutes or so.
I have read that many adware and viruses have been keen on attacking Norton and other well-known / popular antivirus program. Could this possibly be one of those situations? And, what virus program would you recommend? I've been told to try Kapersky, but who knows. These days, I don't know if a virus scanner is a virus scheme or a legitimate program.
Any ideas?

You could try going to the Symantec website and downloading the Norton Antivirus removal tool that will remove it completely.
NOD 32 is a good cheap substitute anti-virus program that doesn't slow your computer down.

Kaspersky is the best one out there…it doesnt give your processor much load to handle…
and yea Norton is more likely to be attacked ..
why dont you log on from safe mode and then un-install it?
or maybe download an uninstaller from google?

Get a tool from Symantec site called RNAV or RNIS which should clean you system of it; otherwise there's also a massive manual removal procedure on the Symantec site if you can be bothered with it. I'd be considering a reinstall of windows myself, prob take less time.
