I have the windows vista operating system and I’m trying to remove the NEW Internet Explorer version 8.0…
I clicked on "start" menu, then "control panel" , clicked on "programs" and selected "programs and features", I searched for internet explorer 8.0 to uninstall it and it’s no where to be found..?, why?. I have the shortcut icon on my desktop, it’s in the start menu as a deafult program, and can also be found at the bottom quick start menu.
This internet explorer 8.0 version has caused me nothing but lagging, system errors, and programs not operating correctly..So I want to down grade BACK to 7.0, however I can’t unless I UNINSTALL the CURRENT one.
Can anyone help??, why can’t I find the program to uninstall it?
*UPDATE*… internet explorer can’t be found in "installed updates".

You won’t find it in the programs list - it is in the "installed updates" list.
So - go back to add/remove programs and select "view installed updates" at the top left
You will find it in there:
"Windows Internet Explorer 8"
BTW - it ain’t crappy.

Hi! Vista classes IE8 as an update rather than a new program.
Go to ‘Control Panel’
then ‘Security’
then under ‘Windows update’ select ‘View installed updates’
Find IE8 and click on it, at the top of the list you will see an option to uninstall it.
Hope it works for you!

In Windows 7, you click "Turn Windows features on or off" from the Programs and Features panel, and you can remove IE from there.

- Go to Control Panel.
- If you are using classic view, click on "Windows Update". If you are using normal view, click on "Security/Check for updates".
- The window probably says "Windows is up to date".
- Click on "View update history" (NOT view available updates)
- Click on "Installed updates"
- Scroll down to "Microsoft Windows" group and look down the list.
- You should find "Windows Internet Explorer 8". Highlight it and right-click, then click to Uninstall (or just click "Uninstall" in the menu near the top).
