In my Add Or Remove Programs list, I have installed
Microsoft .Net framework 1.1
Microsoft .Net framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)
Microsoft .Net framework 2.0
Microsoft .Net framework 3.0
I was wandering whether i could uninstall the previous versions of these and leave 3.0 still there or do programs still need the lower versions of framework?

No this will not work and you might cause errors on your pc. If you need to uninstall you will need to uninstall in reverse order of install.

Well, strange though, but .NET frameworks don't behave the way you expect.
Applications made for .NET framework 1.x will not work with .NET framework 2.x, and vice versa. I suggest you leave all three installed as various applications will require different versions of the framework. If you remove version 1.x for example, the applications requiring version 1.x will stop working even if you have version 2.x installed.
