So I had an older computer, and in January, to start the new year off, in an attempt to stay organized as far as when I do things, i purchased and downloaded an Anti Virus Program & Registry Cleaner from PC Tools, and it seemed to be working fine…
then about 2 months ago I had to upgrade my computer, new hard drive, DVD Rom, all new, and my friend put it together, reloaded windows and put McAfee on there… I already paid for this other one and have paid support thru PC Tools. My friend has been busy and really has not responded to this type of question I'm posting now…
It is true that its prob not a good idea to have 2 virus programs on the computer, they kind of work against each other … i'd like to just remove the McAfee and re download the PC Tools one, i already DL the registry cleaner, but think it's prob a good idea to just have one virus protection program.
Am I right in thinking this ?
thanks for the "nice" comments most of you have given, the rude one was unecessary, i was just asking for confirmation from some who may be a little more computer saavy than myself.

Yes.
Use only one.
This is what a Microsoft MVP has to say about the subject. You may also want to consider reading her entire web-page on "How to prevent Malware". It is one of the best that I have seen.

"Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously! The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time. Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown."
Good luck.
