Uninstall Windows from boot?

April 3rd, 2009 · 2 Comments

I have a big probo - I can't get onto windows xp because "Load needed dlls for kernel" - I was going to try and reinstall windows with my cd, but obviously I need to uninstall my current xp first (which I can't access). Many Thanks in advance….

You run your XP CD and either
      Select "Repair Windows" or
proceed with a full (fresh) install which will go over your current XP

You do NOT need to remove it first. Change the boot order, or set the first boot option to the CD from the bios. Then start the machine with the cd in and accept the offer to boot from CD. Select install, then at the window showing the system select the R repair option. This should re-install all the original files and correct any errors, unless the system is far to badly damaged. It is worth the attempt, as it keeps all your data. If it does not work, do the same again, and then at the same window select the D delete option to remove the partition, then use the C create option to make a new one to load on.
