Hi!1 year ago I bought a laptop which had already installed windows vista basic. After receiving windows vista ultimate as a gift I had the great idea of installing that too on my pc!I really was convinced that ultimate was better than basic. Now I ‘ve got both operating systems on the same pc and it is disfunctional.I ‘d love to uninstall it,I just don’t know how!I’ve spent months trying! All my data are in the windows vista basic operating system and nothing is in ultimate.I don’t care about any data loss from ultimate, but I’d hate seing anything else from basic lost!Everything is in there!Pleeeaaaase help!!!!! Thanks in advance
In case I wasn’t very clear,it ’s the windows vista ultimate os I want uninstalled. Thanks again
The problem is that windows vista basic, which is the os I want to keep was already installed in the pc and I do not have a cd with it…What can be done without using the unexistant cd?

Run vista basic,…format the drive containing vista ultimate (open my computer, right click the drive, select format, start)
Now move all the data you wanna save to the drive you just formatted…pics, music, documents etc..
Put in the vista ultimate dvd and restart pc. Fress F11 and select to boot from dvd. Install vista on c by first formatting it too. Done
You could install vista basic instead if you have the dvd

it sounds like its in Limbo, stuck between with a faulty Dual-Boot setup; it could be easier just to either restore with the CD that came with it? or install the Ultimate and make sure to tell it NOT to format the drive

Read your laptop User Manual to learn how to return your PC to "Factory New" condition. And, yes, you will have to save (backup) all your personal data elsewhere (DVD, External hard drive, etc.).
When done, Vista Ultimate will be gone.
