I want to uninstall my avast! anti-virus to install AVG because I like AVG better. So I went to add/remove programs and tried to remove avast! but it didn’t work. So from there, I went on safe mode to try to install the Avast Uninstall Utility but that didn’t work either. So now I’m on normal mode or whatever and I tried downloading the Avast Uninstall Utility on here but when I click "run" I get a pop up that says that I have to disable the avast! self protection, otherwise this won’t work. So I go to program settings and then troubleshooting on avast! and I click "disable self protection module" or something of the like. Then I click ok and try to run the Avast Uninstall Utility again and I get the same pop up. When I go back to settings>troubleshooting I see that the "disable self protection" is unchecked so I check it again, and this continues on. So basically, it’s becoming impossible for me to uninstall avast! and I really want to get it off my computer. Help? I have no idea why the "disable self protection" won’t stay checked and disable!

Try booting into safe mode, then uninstalling it.

Try this - computer/ my computer - click C drive - click programme files - right click and delete any reference to avast.
Also type regedit into search/run box.
Open regedit - click software - find avast on the list - right click and delete.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del together to get the task manager. Click on the ‘Processes’ tab, click on ‘Image Name’ and click on each entry beginning with ‘AAW’ or ‘ash’ and end them.
Now uninstall Avast.
