uninstalling itunes—losing music?

I tried to upgrade to itunes 9 and now it wont let me open it. I get some error message when I try to open it.

The iTunes application could not be opened. A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reenstall Quicktime (-42404)

Im gonna uninstall itunes and re-install it, but I dont want to lose all my music. I have close to 5000 songs in my library and most of them are from Frostwire. When I go to my documents and then to my music, I only find maybe 1/20th of my library in the itunes library folder.

Do I need to back up the files, and if so, how do I do that without opening itunes? ask questions if you have any

If I moved music from frostwire to itunes, and I uninstall frostwire.. will the music still work?
