Upgraded to Vista and now no sound!?

August 20th, 2008 · 4 Comments

i just upgraded to vista ultimate and now i have no sound! when i go to the sound hardware it says that my speakers are working but they arent :(
do i need to install some drivers or something??

in the sound window it says this for devices:
Speakers:
USB Audio Codec
Working

can someone tell me what i need to do?
i solved the problem. i just disabled the audio device that was labeled as:
USB Audio CODEC
and then enabled the one that was labeled:
Realtek High Definition Audio
i installed all the audio drivers from the HP website gefore hand though and that solved nothing. im gonna leave the question to the voters cuz no1 solved my problem but u did put me on the right track

If you have upgraded from XP to vista, i recommend for you to go to the manufacturer’s website and download the drivers for VISTA. Most of the drivers by now maybe available for download for most manufacturers.

Check the hardware first its wiring and its switch everything. Then look for the appropriate driver suitable for Microsoft Windows Vista and install that. It will be fine

      Thank You

Make sure your Sound Driver isn’t disabled, it may have inadvertently disabled itself during shutdown:
Go to Device Manager (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and right click on your sound driver and choose enable.

If you don’t know the name of you Sound Driver, so to Start> Run> dxdiag. Now go to the Sound Tab and any sound hardware installed is listed.

If that still doesn’t work, the driver may have been uninstalled. If so, go to your computer’s manufacturer’s website and go to the “Support” section. There should be a link for drivers. You will need to know your computer’s model, but once you enter that it will give you and option to download any missing drivers. Just find the Sound Driver and install it.

      Hope that helps =]
