I've been using AVG 7.5 for some time now. The free Anti Virus program has helped me remove a trojan virus.
Recently, I've seen from their website that there is a AVG 8 version available. I have the 7.5 version right now, and I want to download the AVG 8 version, though I'm not sure if I should uninstall 7.5 first, or download 8 and then uninstall 7n5.
Also, is internet update better or no?

I recently updated to 8 and i highly advise you to do so and you don't have to uninstall 7.5 or what ever it will automaticly update it to 8

no need to uninstall ….You just upgrade it by using the "Check for Updates" option within the menu that opens after right mouse button clicking over the AVG icon located on the system tray…

Please, keep 7.5
I had the misfortune of upgrading to 8.
Can you say "bloated" ?
There are SO many new features that I absolutely do not need. The memory load has increased by 6% on my PC due to installing 8. It has all these random tools that nobody in their right mind would even think of using. An example? AVG Anti-Rootkit. NOBODY NEEDS THIS.
Please, don't make the same mistake I did, keep 7.5.
I hope this helps,
Pat

I agree, I feel like I was “forced” into upgrading by repeated warnings that the deadline was coming when AVG 7.5 would no longer be effective against the threat “out there” so after clicking on “later” in order to get the “ad” off my screen I finally relented and upgraded to the Free AVG 8.0 and now I have an AVG toolbar that is slowing down my computer b/c I have a Yahoo and Google toolbar also which I was very happy with. When I try to remove the AVG toolbar by right clicking for the menu and then unchecking the box next to AVG toolbar it takes away Google toolbar instead!!!!!! So, then I do it again and put the check back and Google comes back. I thought well maybe they have their wires crossed so I unchecked the Google toolbar box and it did remove it. So, nothing is amiss EXCEPT you can’t remove the AVG toolbar. I prefere my Google toolbar and now I am stuck with this extra toolbar that slows down my computer. I tried to remove it through my add/remove file BUT…it doesn’t show the AVG toolbar listed b/c it is bundled in with AVG 8.0 and in order to remove the toolbar you would be removing the entire AVG 8.0 protection!!!! I’m more than a little upset about this!!
