I'm having problems with my pc and I'm almost 100% sure it's seriously infected with spyware and possibly a virus. My Norton Antivirus and Spyware Bot and neither is getting rid of my problems. I'm having problems booting up my pc and it's getting to the point to where I'm seriously just going to give up on it alltogether. I'm not computer savvy (obviously), so I'm hoping someone out there can help me. Thanks!

AVAST is very good, and it is FREE. I have also had problems in the past with some Antivirus and Antispyware programs, including Norton, failing to identify some problems.
I have been using AVAST for several weeks now, and I like it a lot.
I don't know much about computers either, so I know how frustrating they can be. Hang in there!

then go to C|NET magazine's respected http://www.download.com
and get (for free)
Spyware Search & Destroy (removal)
and
Spyware Blaster (future protection)
If Norton is out of date or soon to expire, consider switching to AVG, also free to download from http://www.download.com/ and it will automaticaly download updates for free without any pesky annual renewal reminders (you'll need to uninstall Norton via your control panel's add or remove programs dialog before installing AVG)
also to consider
Lavasoft's Ad-Aware home edition (free) for finding and removing adware and cCleaner for keeping your registry clean and your c drive cleaned up (who needs cookies and old Internet temp files clutting up their computer anyway)

your problem is not getting solved because your antivirus may not be capable of removing it………..well dont get panic it happens quite a few times that the good antivirus are also not able to get rid of some problems.
I will advise you to uninstall both of your antivirus and Spyware bot.On the place of this i will advice you to install the kaspersky internet security. You can avail the free trail version of this antivirus from http://www.kaspersky.com/
after installing the trail version plz update it from internet to get rid of all unwanted spy ware.
Apart from all this u mentioned that ur not pretty sure that some spyware is active on your system, therefore going anything else just online scan ur PC

If still the problem is not solved then ur windows might be corrupted then in such case plz consult a person who can reinstall your windows.
Dont worry the problem will be solved from kaspersky (if any virus/spyware issue)…….Kaspersky is the worlds no 1 and i personally using it from last 3 years and my PC is working absolutely fine……..

I know that some will tell you to get rid of nortons but if you bought it and it will last for another year, I would keep it, but what you need to do is to make sure that (nortons) is up-to-date by running your updates first afterward deo a Full System Scan (keep it updated) If you computer is slow , it could come from too much spyware, so you need to run your spyware also, run scans a least once a week. If you don't have any spyware programs then here is a link that you can click on and download that I recomend and so do others here (http://www.superantispyware.com) So don't give up on computers as it take (us) to keep them working right, we need to do our part by making sure that we have 3 things loaded and running 1.A Firewall 2. A antivirus program 3. A Spyware program, these 3 programs is what keep out computers under protection. You will get frustrated at times but the more you play around with the computer the more you learn, and the more you learn the more you will experiment with ok so when you find yourself getting to that point, just step away from the computer for a few days then go back to it again, you would be supprise.
