Urgent! Open office/ Mac/ Acer Aspire One?

I am thinking about bidding for an Acer Aspire one. However, the newly released Acer Aspire one only comes with Linux version. My question is, is Linux compatible with Mac? What should I pay attention of? My laptop/ desktop are all macs (with microsoft office for mac). I hope I will be able to open files saved from both systems. Any suggestions?

      aspire one uses openoffice.org so no problem in office document files. i'm not sure about the itunes though. it plays mp3s and mp4s.
