i had installed the usb webcam driver while the camera was on. therefore it is not working properly. i tried uninstal and reinstallation. again not working. also tried system restore. still no use. can someone help

i'm using windows xp.
the webcam is very old.
frontech webcam JIL-030201172.
however it is in working condition.
i was just trying to install on my desktop pc. but, i made a mistake by installing the driver (VP-EYE is the package name) while the webcam was connected.
After installation, it was not working. (i.e. when i try to on using the VP-EYE webcam interface the window just opens up for less than a second and closes off itself. In all other softwares, for e.g. skype it says that no webcam is installed on ur pc).
therefore, i tried to uninstall and reinstall. also i did system restore. again same result.
when i spoke to my brother(who is living far away from my home), he said that it happens if the installation is not correct (i.e for usb items when connected b4 or during installation). further he said there is some procedures to overcome this, but he doesnt remember.
i hope u can help me.

wheather you are using laptop or DESKTOP PC ?
WHAT ERROR IT IS SHOWING ?
WEATHER IT IS NEW WEBCAM OR OLD ONE (WHICH YOU ALREADY USING)
