i cant install anything….i just told u na ki i cant run .exe….!!!!!!!!
renaming it to .com doesnt solve the problem……same output…..a notepad with something written in it in i suppose encrypted language…!!!
i have somehow removed the virus but the changes it made are very serious. it made all the exe extensions to open with notepad by default. it means that now i m not able to open any exe fle or even installed file, neither regedit, nor system restore and add_or_remove progs(rundll.exe)

You need to run your a/v in Safe Mode (tap F8 as the computer boots up and choose to boot to safe mode).
Ideally you should run a virus removal program in Safe Mode (without networking) and reboot and repeat the scan and reboot until there is a cycle where no virus is detected.
The idea behind the Safe Mode is that the operating system would only load your essential programs and drivers to the memory and hence there is a “high” chance that the virus-infected file is on the drive but not loaded into memory. This would enable the AV to clean it easily and the next reboot/scan would detect nothing. There could still be a small possibility that one of the drivers or programs that are loaded by the OS in the Safe Mode is infected. That’s why you need to keep rebooting and rescanning to make sure you’ve found them all.

You could try running safe mode.. (while your computer is booting up push F8 before your windows screen shows up) and then you might be able to run your anti-virus without the virus screwing it up.
Also what you might try is taking your hard drive, put it in another computer and run the antivirus from there.. However you do risk infecting that other computer.
Can you run the internet? There is trendmicro housecall that that will scan your whole computer for free

A trick I have used in the past was to rename the .exe to a .com and then run it manually. Remember to rename it back though !

uninstall computer antivirus programme, as relative files will be corrupt or damaged. download avg free antivirus programme. run the application(anti-virus). & be relaxed. after transferring infected files to virus vault of avg , just delete them.

Try some of the free on-line virus scans and see if you can get your malware removed that way. Go to trendmicro.com and run the free on-line scan called housecall or go to pandasoftware.com and run the free scan called activescan. Best to you…

hi manish,
Dost i suggest you get ESET NOD32 antivirus and Spyware Doctor and do a full system scan. i had a similar infection once and i t curropted all the exe files on my system
the best solution i can give is download Hirens BootCD from the internet (torrent, rapidshare etc) , burn it onto a CD, and then use it to boot. There you will find lot of DOS Mode antiviruses FpOrotect and McAfee which run in DOS MODE. since there is no windows involved they give 100% detection and virus removal!
