The situation; In any search engine I get the familiar results for pages I have been to before and see the correct web address but when I click on the results I get directed to a new search engine.

You could install a new windows, if that doesnt work format the hard drive, make sure toi get the master boot record as well.

easier? Try finding what exact virus it is and find a specific anti-virus program for it not a get all of the virus ones like norton, specific for that virus ONLY

You computer is infected with a search-hijacker.

Firstly, Do NOT download and install any more anti-virus programs unless you completely un-install any current anti-virus program that you may have.

The use of 2 anti-virus programs at the same time can cause major conflicts. The 2 scanning engines will fight each other to scan every file that you read, write or execute which can cause a slowdown. For the same reason, using 2 A-Vs can cause you to have less protection from the various malware, not more.

(Using an anti-spyware with an anti-virus is good, however and is recommended)

A much better solution, right now when your computer is apparently infected, is the use of on-line scanners.

Run both of these on-line scans. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install any of your current protections (Norton etc.) before using these.

      1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no installed program) with BitDefender's Online Scanner. Press "Scan now" on the left.
      http://www.bitdefender.com/

      2. Scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no installed program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus. Press "Scan your computer now online and clean it for free!" on the left.
      http://www.ewido.net/en/

These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.

      Good luck.

I am sure that u r using internet explorer 6. Ur IE is hijacked by the spyware. My only advice to u is that :
      1) Use Kaspersky antivirus to scan computer.
      2) Upgrade from IE6 to IE 7
      3) Use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE

If you use one search engine more that others, you can make that as your "Default" even though you pick one to use as your default search engine you can still use others that is on your task bar. So set one as your default just to see will that help. Sometime when things get redirected it could come from a computer virus or even a form of spyware. Also do a computer scan with your antivirus program and do a Full System Scan, and after that scan finish, run your spyware program just to make sure that it is not either one of them that is causing this problem (it is always best to be safe now than sorry later) If you don't have a spyware program loaded then here is a link that you can click on to dowload that I highly recomend and so do others here. (http://www.superantispyware.com) this is a very good spyware program and it is Free.
