im just wondering why someone with 3Gig OCZ 4-4-4-15 DDR2 800 get a vista rating of 4.7
and i get a rating of 5.9 with
2Gig corsair 5-5-5-18 DDR2 800
thanks.
yeah i know about the vista rating, and rating all the other parts, i have everything at 5.9 exept my cpu at 5.8 (e6600@3.2Ghz)
i wast talking about base score just wondering why more ram is not as good as less ram, when both are the same speed.

2Gig corsair 5-5-5-18 DDR2 800 If this is the ram you are talking about then. The rating is done by checking the weakest part in your computer. If you are comparing the ram of two computers one might be able to use the ram more productivitly than the other one that might be the cause or you don;t know anything about how the rating works. It not only checks ram it checks the speed of the hard drive and the video card and such
additional details
mabe one computer is able to access the ram better than the other one or one computer may have viruses and such which may slow it down. I have a laptop with 2 gb of ram and it says 4.5

There are a few things that could affect this.
First does he have three 1 gig chips? If so then the motherboard probably can't run the memory in Dual Channel mode since that requires an even number of chips of the same size/type. They are better off buying two 2 gig chips instead.
The motherboard can also have a lot to do with it. It may not be optimized or support the memory timings of the chips. In that case it will run at a slower speed. Checking the timings via an application or the BIOS is the only way to check.
