When I turn my computer on I can hear sound from all 4 speakers plus my subwoofer. Also, when I get into the load screen for a game or play a video/music the surround sound works.
However, when I go to configure the sound in windows and test the speakers only the front 2 work. Also, when I actually get into the game certain sound effects, like the characters speaking, no longer work.
The only change I can think of is I configured the windows media center today and it doesn’t detect my surround sound there either.
Is there a simple setting I can change? I have the correct input type in the media center setup.

much like dvd movies they have to have the format for surround sound in order for those to work. You might check with the game manufacturer and see if the have any trouble shooting guides.
