i’ve just reinstalled a fresh copy of vista ultimate and also installed sp1. so after installing sp1 i thought that i dont have to update that many but it turns out that i have to download 78 updates (470 mb). some of these are from 2007 too. so i was wondering isnt sp1 suppose to have these updates already??

not always, some or most of those updates are useless crap youll never use.
only grab security updates and that 470mb will shrink

service pack 1 has updates to windows vista that are not included in the previous updates….
this is the reason why you had those updates ….

It does, and it’s possible that those updates you don’t need. It’s also possible that those updates didn’t make it to SP1. Did you install Office 2007? Because that has a SP1 too that’s fairly large.
