Vista won’t read disks!?!?!?

November 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

I bought my computer in January of 2008. My mom tried to burn a disk (which wouldn’t let, because it was copywritten) and now it won’t read any disk. I push the disk in, and nothing happens.

I’ve tried everything. Please Help?

PS. I have a HP Pavilion a6303w, running windows vista.

–for all the vista haters, I really do not think its vista, but the CD “reader” itself.

When you say you’ve “tried everything” what exactly have you tried? If you double-click on “computer” on your desktop does the drive show? If you double click on the drive icon with a disk in it can you explore the disk? I doubt your problem is anything to do with Vista, the DVD drive or what your mum did. What disk do you push in (a music CD, a film DVD, a blank disk?) and what do you expect to happen?

Try right-clicking on the drive icon, select the “recording” tab and check your DVD drive is the default recorder.
