This problem appeared maybe a few weeks ago, where the volume icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen doesn't appear upon startup. Originally, this prevented any sound coming from my computer, so I went into sound devices under Control Panel, unchecked the box to display the volume icon, hit apply, then checked it and hit apply and it reappeared and solved the sound problem.
However, it is still not appearing upon startup, even though it still has that box checked off. I don't remember installing anything that could affect it recently, and while I did remove some applications from starting (entering "msconfig" under "Run…"), I'm pretty sure I didn't mess with anything related to sound.
Does anybody know how to solve this without going into the Control Panel upon every startup?
