I have an HP Pavilon that I bought last year and I wish to reformat the drive and re install Windows Vista again. There is a Recovery Drive (thanks to them not providing the DVD) and I made the copy onto like 12 CDs (For some strange reason it refused my DVDs calling them invalid or some crap). Ok, when i wipe out the drive, and use the CD’s to reinstall, will it install the entire OS or will it only repair it? The last thing I need to do is wipe out my drive and find that I can’t re install a fresh copy. Also, is it possible to re install from the recovery drive itself rather than having to use the CD’s? Thanks

If you recovery partition,(mine is D:/) is intact,
When you boot up your puter and see the blue screen hit F12 and it should take you to recovery setup.

Check out the page from HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00814731&dlc=en
It has full instructions on how to recover Vista using the recovery partition
