I have a OPTIQUEST computer and it has Windows XP and worked ALOTE FASTER when we got it. It seems to be going ALOTE slower now and i have 2 virus protections dowloaded and found out i have 10 virus’s so i deleted them! Now my computer is going slower then it has ever gone before in my life!!! What is the big deal?!! ALL i do when i get on the computer is get on the internet!! I want a fast computer and have gotten no answers!!! PLZ HELP!!!!!

umm it could be that you have a virus,spyware,adware,worms,or trojans and when you have two virus protection programs your computer could run slow because the two virus protection programs are interfering with each other

you could have a virus (like u said!) But your computer may have too much stuff downloaded, one thing that I find helps is going to the recycle bin and emptying that…sorry If I didn’t really help! OH and good luck!

Causes for slow down: Not enough free disk space available (run Disk Cleanup tool)
Hard disk is fragmented (run Disk Defrag tool)
Hard disk has errors (run Error-checking tool)
Too many cached internet files (use Explorer to delete temporary internet files)
Too many programs loaded at startup
Bad memory or too little memory
Windows updates not installed
Running 2 Virus protection programs may be causing the problem as well.

Well having two anti-Virus programs will confict wiht each other slowing down your PC anyway, oh n make sure your not using Norton that slows down the PC a ton.
Also make sure you dont have any Temp files taking up space and youve defragged your PC ( CCleaner n Defraggler are great for that, available on the Piriform link)
Also remove any Bloatware, ie random crap programs that oyu dont need, you cna also do that on Ccleaner (under tools Menu) so remove unnecssary progrmas nad Start-up Programs(ie Adobe, Apple, Google etc are all culprits for having unnessacry load up files among many others)
Also clean out any Dust in the PC case, use air can, it cna heat up PC parts so that they stop working properly, like a car blows out if it gets too hot.

One quick easy way to speed up your computer is to hit ‘ctrl+alt+delete’ and bring up your task manager. End any process running in the background that isn’t necessary at the moment. Like itune helper modules,adobe quick launcher,ect. If you have any file sharing programs,like limewire,that will lag your computer big time.Make sure anything like that is not running in the background. Also free up as much hard drive space as possible. Go to control panel and to the installed/uninstall programs and uninstall any games or programs you dont use anymore.Clean out your registry too of old files.
