Norton 360 is’nt good, Kaspersky 07 is the best. I checked it from pc magazine 2008. If you want a free one then Avg is the best b’coz it cleans both viruses and spyware’s.

Here are some lists of good security freewares:
Antivirus -
1. Rising free antivirus - an overall antimalware with HIPS.
2. Avira personal editions - one of the best antivirus engines with excellent detection and protection. Its downside is its slow updates and a nag of update to premium.
3. Avast Home - another good antivirus but has a couple of fase positives issue but overall is effective at protecting a pc.
4. AVG 8.0 free - its new version integrated its antispyware engine to have an antimalware solution but has its memory leaks problem.
5. Moon secure AV - an open source antivirus using clamwin AV database and its version 2 has heuristics.
Antispyware
1. Spybot SD - one of the classic free antispyware software with a good number of supports.
2. Windows Microsoft Defender - MS own antispyware.
3. spywareblaster - a good extra protection for IE and firefox users, prevents users from accessing unwanted sites by using a list of active X and sites that are considered bad and harmful.
4. Comodo BOclean - comodo’s own antispyware solution with real time protection.
5. Spyware Terminator - a good antispyware solution.
Personally, I would recommend either Rising free AV or Avira personal and spywareblaster added with a good firewall like comodo pro.
