AVG Free is going obsolete the end of this month. I have been very happy with it but I really would rather not pay if I don't have to. What's a really good similar anti-virus I can download for free to replace my beloved AVG?

I have no idea what you mean by going obsolete and you have to pay, AVG is free…forever (Well until they decide to stop this service).
But if you really must replace this, try Avast Anti-Virus, I've personally never used it but I've heard good things about it.

AVG 8.0 will still be free but it sucks.
Avast is now the best free anti-virus.

yes try Avast it's only diferance was the interface it's just as good as AVG but do a serch for AVG 8.
it's AVG but with more eye candy.

AVG is still free. They have an upgrade 8.0 that I am using and it works really well. It doesn't have as many features as the version that you buy, but its much better than the last version. Here's a link, check it out.
