I downloaded download accelerator plus to my computer and it started telling me it is low on virtual memory and it often hanged. I had to uninstall it after which it was back to normal.
My laptop has 80GB hardisk of which 88% is free, 512MB RAM and an Intel Celeron 1.5. I cannot afford to change the hardware for now.
If the download accelerator plus(DAP) is not good for my laptop someone please tell me of another download manager just as good.

The problem that you are experiencing is nothing to do with your hardware at all. The problem come from which you don’t have enough RAM for your Laptop to handle. Since your RAM is only 512 MB, you will get the message that your virtual memory run low if you run lots of program on the background at the same time with DAP.
You can not change the Hardware in your Laptop but you can change / upgrade your RAM.
