What do I need to buy to make backup copies of copyrighted dvd’s?

I posted a similar question but I wasn’t very clear as to what I needed to know. So… I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop. I thought it had a dvd burner/copier but it only has a program called Dvd Maker which allows you to burn and create your own Dvd’s of personal Dvd’s or photos for your tv. I need to make backup copies of my copyrighted Dvd’s. We have a lot of money invested into our collection and with a little one around I would like to store my originals and leave the copies out. What do I need to buy as an external component to do this? Any suggestions?
