What internet security has lowest memory comsumption?

I just got a new laptop and should i go ahead and stick with the Norton that comes on the computer or go with someone else.

A "computer guy" friend of mine said Norton could have added to the reasons my last laptop ran sooo slow.

Old laptop had only 1 GB memory, where as the new one has 4GB memory…

So Stick with Norton or recommend something else.. i want my computer to run as fast as its capable of going
