      Yahoo’s anti-spy, which is a free download is probably the best. Another free download is spybot. Download the free version at spybot.com Note: there is no one program that catches all spyware, but yahoo is probably the best.

      Third-party is usually the way to go, ie Ad-Aware in this instance. The big companies that don’t specialize in anti virus/spam usually tell their programs to ignore adware/spam that they release.
