I went on file hippo but there are so many programs and I don't know what is a good one to use. Our desktop computer says that it is infected but, all we have is the free protection that came with the computer and it doesn't remove the infected items. I tried to use the spybot search and destroy that is on filehippo but, I couldn't get it to work. PLEASE HELP!!!!

A very good, free anti-virus available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:
http://www.free.grisoft.com
And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot - Search and Destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Both are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don't use up as many resources.
Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.
Hope that helps.

I would recommend
Avast Personal or
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition or
Avira AntiVir Personal
For spyware
I would first use SUPERAntiSpyware
you can also use Spyware Terminator
Use Advance Window Care Personal, great tool.

anything by McAfee, AVG, Nortons, Trend Micros pretty good, just google them up, try them, use the free trial versions first, see which one you prefer, be sure to update their definitions files often as if they arent you may catch a virus not yet covered by it.
