What is making my pc so slow? ?

September 26th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I have hi-speed dsl and it’s good, but sometimes my pc sounds like a fan is running inside and it makes my web surfing really slow! This can go on for hours! I do have Avast virus protector. I also have a spyware program. I still have lots of disk space on my pc.
Like I said, it’s usually only while the fan type noise is going on that the pc slows to a crawl! It was doing that earlier and I unplugged the pc and plugged it right back in and the sound started again but only for a minute or so. Since then, the speed has been okay!
Thanx!

If it is only slowing occassionly then it might just be your internet connection.

2 guesses…. you have an intel processor and you have never vaccumed out your PC.

open it up and vaccume out the dust. that´t probably the ultimate cause

the trip though is that avast is very demanding when it updates, probably causing your processor to overheat. intels slow themselves down in order to keep them from melting down, so maybe try disabling automatic updates

and try spybot to make sure their aint anythign else running that shouldnt be, which would also assist in heating up your processor even hotter
